Bespoke Radiator cabinets

All our radiator cabinets are custom made and come in a wide variety of styles and designs from Modern to traditional. Traditionally designed cabinets can give a sense of familiarity and warmth to a space, while modern or contemporary designs can create a dynamic or sophisticated feel to a room.

With so many designs, colours and grills to choose from, you can create a design that is truly your own unique stamp in your home.

You may want to oversize your cabinet to centre the radiator on a wall in your living room or your focus might be to design it as slim as possible for areas such as hallways or bathrooms which might be tight on space.

Having a made to measure cabinet gives you the look your looking for without taking up an unnecessary amount of space or overpowering a small area. Having a balanced feeling in our home is something everyone likes to feel. This can be achieved by enhancing the overall look of a room by having beautifully made bespoke cabinetry, creating a sense of unity in the interior décor.

Benefits of custom made furniture

Most of us want our home to be well-decorated with some unique furniture design. When it comes to the interior design of your home, it’s important to choose each item with care so that it blends in with the overall design of the room. Everyone has their own unique ideas about design and style. Therefore, many people choose custom made furniture as the possibilities of design styles, features, colours and textures are endless. This allows you, the customer, to design something that speaks to you, functions for your individual requirements and most importantly, allowing your personality to shine through.

Here are 3 of the main benefits of choosing us to create your custom made furniture.

A Unique range of furniture: Custom-made furniture is something you can play around with the design. We can help you design furniture according to your needs, requirements, preferences and style.

Quality: We use the highest quality materials available on the market. Materials we use include certified hidrfugo, moisture resistant MDF, furniture grade plywood, veneers and solid woods
If you want your furniture to stay intact for years, then quality materials are a must. Ready-furniture is usually made of inferior quality material to cut down the price. With our custom-made furniture, you get that high-quality furniture you are looking for which has been hand made and constructed by a highly skilled craftsman, leaving you with a sturdy, high-quality product.

Storage and Size: Custom-made furniture is just perfect if you are looking for storage space in either small apartments very large rooms or awkward spaces such as under your stairs. We help you design them in such a manner so that they maximize on storage. There may be an empty wall or corner of the room where ready-furniture pieces are either small or just too big to fit. These are times when bespoke furniture comes to the rescue. Since we can make anything in any size, your commissioned piece of made to measure furniture will look great anywhere.

We have many different radiator cabinet designs available, however, we also design cabinets on request. Since 2016 we made and fitted nearly 250 radiator covers. All of our furniture is made-to-order. Prices range from 190,- euro up to 380,- euro per cabinet depending on style and size.

Please send us an email or message in the form below if you wish to know the cost of a radiator cover. Please help us to provide you with a quick answer by having an estimated width of the radiator, measured from valve to valve. Covers can be made with or without side shelving.

Frequently asked questions (FAQ)

Q. Where do radiator cabinets come from?

A. The first radiator cabinet is thought to have been manufactured at some point during the Victorian era. The latter part of the 19th century saw greater emphasis placed on attractive and elegant home design. The old cast iron radiators and pipes were regarded as an eyesore and the desire to cover these blemishes led to the introduction of decorative radiator cabinets.

Q: What are radiator covers made of?

A: Other companies typically make them from MDF (medium density fibreboard), an inexpensive and stable choice for a painted cover. This material is also used for most IKEA furniture. We prefer to make them from a more expensive material called Hydro-board. The material is very similar to MDF, but better able to resist most, and heat and has proven to be more solid and durable over the long run. It also delivers a much nicer finish after a spray-painted coating. On the front of the cover, heat is allowed to radiate outward through a large opening covered by a decorative screen or grill, that can be made from metal or MDF.

Q: Do you lose heat with radiator covers?

A: No, Radiator covers can distribute heat more efficiently than an uncovered radiator. The wall will not absorb more or less heat with a radiator cover. Of course, if the wall was never sufficiently insulated to start with, then this might be a good opportunity to cover the wall with reflective backing or insulation. Most radiators are traditionally placed under windows. Although double and triple glazing can significantly reduce heat loss, windows are still the main reason our houses lose heat. In newer houses, radiators are no longer placed near the windows, but rather on the opposite site of the room so the heat stays in the room longer. Regardless of the position of the radiator, a cabinet can help direct the airflow to the middle of the room, away from the colder wall and prevent hot air to escape immediately true a window.

Q: Why use radiator covers?

A: For space: Radiators are (obviously) a good source of warmth that every room needs from time to time, but they do take up a bit of space, and for many people – particularly those in smaller urban houses and apartments – space can come at a premium. By buying a radiator cover, you can reclaim some of that space and use the shelf on top of the cover to display books, pictures, a porcelain pig collection or perhaps even a mini herb garden. We even have some examples were a bookcase is integrated.
For safety: A radiator can present a serious risk of burns if a small child happens to touch it. This is a particularly big problem with steam radiators which tend to be hotter to the touch than other types. Thankfully they don’t feature much in modern homes anymore – but still, for safety reasons, many homeowners look to childproof their radiators with gates and covers. Better to be safe than sorry.
But mostly decoration: The main reason people use them is that they look a whole lot better than a metal radiator. Until very recently, many radiators looked as if they had fallen quite heavily from an ugly tree and hit every single branch on the way down. Not everyone can afford to replace their old radiators with shiny new designer radiators, so often decide to hide it away under a radiator cover instead.

Q. What is the cost of a radiator cabinet?

A. We can make radiator covers in any wanted design and in any colour. Furthermore, you can pick a grill to compliment the unit and that suits your interior best. As every choice of material comes with its own price tag, it’s difficult to provide a standard price list. Just have a look at the options on this page and reach out to us. We can provide a quote over the phone or by email.

Q: Will the radiator cover fit around my skirting?

A: Yes, before production we will visit and take the exact measurements needed. Once finished we will deliver and fit the covers so they will fit around your skirting board.

Q: Can I still access the radiator and valves after the cabinet is fitted?

A: Yes, depending on the model, you can either remove the full front panel, or the side pillars will open to allow access to the valves.

Q: What colours are available?

A: People request most commonly white or ivory as colour, but we can paint your furniture in any colour. Just let us know what colour you like by providing the colour code (RAL) or the brand and name of the paint. We can apply any colour by spray paint or hand-painted finish.

Q: What is the difference between Spray Painted and Hand Painted?

A: Hand painted and spray painted finished give two entirely different types of finish to your furniture. We generally finish all our furniture in a spray painted finish unless otherwise requested. The spray painted finish is one of the most popular finishes in furniture today. It is a solvent bases PC enamel paint that is durable. The spray finish results in a smooth clean finish while a hand painted finish has a brush stroke texture.
